Brittany and Nick’s – Akron, OH Wedding
Remember that time that I told you I wasn’t a wedding photographer? Remember that? I lied. Ok, well, technically I didn’t lie, per se. I do not claim to be a wedding photographer, there are SO many wonderful wedding photographers in this area and I can’t hold a candle to most of them. However, when the occasional opportunity arises that feels right, then and only then am I a wedding photographer. So, what makes it feel right? Well for one, the couple. It has to be the right couple. Weddings for me are terrifying! No joke, like cold sweats in the night, terrifying! There is no going back and getting it right, you get one chance. One! Couples pay 1,000s upon 1,000s of dollars to get their day just right and as the photographer you get one chance to capture that, all of that. I mean come on, that is a lot of pressure so it’s easier for me to leave that to the “real” wedding photographers.
However, once in a while a beautiful couple comes along that I just know I have to work with. That I know I can capture their day to perfection because they are so amazingly wonderful that they will make it easy for me.
Brittany and Nick were the sweetest couple and their story just called to me. Something you might not all know about me but I was in the Army National Guard for 6 years. My brother is still in, my step-brother was Navy, my brother-in-law is a Navy Sea-bee, I love our military and the men and woman who serve. With Nick being deployed at the time of my meeting Brittany, I knew that I wanted to work with them! Another part of their story that called to me, they were already married. Yep, their “wedding day” was actually on their one year anniversary. You see, they got married just before Nick was deployed and this would be the time that they actually got to celebrate their love and marriage with their beautiful families. So this was simply one of those times that I had to get over my fear and be a wedding photographer and you know what, damn I am glad that I did!!
Their wedding day was GORGEOUS!!!!
The wedding was outside on a Thursday evening and being that we live in Ohio, I was a little nervous. You just never know what the weather might be like in early June but seriously, it was perfect!! Perfect! With the ceremony taking place at Brittany’s family church and officiated by her best friend’s husband and the reception at Guy’s Party Center.
Everything about their wedding was breathtaking, not only breathtaking but also meaningful. Every detail was so fitting to them. From the peonies that lined the aisle that came from Brittany’s parents garden, to the pearls that she wore that were the very same string that her mom, aunt, and grandmother all wore on their wedding days, right down to the converse that all the girls, including the bride wore that fits Brittany’s personality perfectly.
There was so much thought and love that went into planning their special day, the day that they finally after all of the time apart got to celebrate their now 1 year old marriage with all of the people who love and care about them! I am so glad that I got to capture this amazing day for this absolutely amazing couple.
So how about I stop rambling on and let you see for yourself how truly stunning their day really was!
